Bad week to be an American

Hola!

Sadly Colombia played their final game in the world cup. They lost to England. But what is most important about that game was the Referee. He was an American, and from everyone I've talked to he did absolutely terrible. So for a few days some people who are usually nice to me weren't as nice. There was a ward activity that night and a couple member were just going off on me for being American and how we lost them the game haha. I was a little down but since everyone here has been giving me crap about the United States not being in the World Cup I've started telling everyone that America beat Colombia because of the Ref. They don't think its very funny haha.

Elder Moura and I were chilling in our apartment and a lizard was climbing on the wall so I caught him and he just chilled with me for a bit. Then a few days later we were walking home from church and just on the side of the road was this 3 foot long Iguana. I didn't think it was real at first but then I remembered I was in Colombia. It started running away so we got a picture of it climbing the tree! I guess it was a week of lizards!

We ate dinner with one of our investigators! Her name is Monica. She made us Patecon which is everyones favorite food here. Its like a banana fried pancake with a sice of cheese on top of it. Its really really salty and I love it. Monica has a 12 year old son who was baptized a few months ago. I think he is more annoying than me when I was 12 and that is saying something haha.

We were teaching one of our investigators. I bore my testimony at the end of the lesson and when I was done he just started clapping his hands for 10 seconds and then said thank you and then shook my hand. Elder Moura was trying so hard not to laugh!

Please keep my man Alfonso in your prayers! He's been to church for 5 straight and been taught all the lessons and he loves meeting with us! But he currently doesn't have a job so he doesn't want to get baptized until he gets one so he keeps pushing his date further away. Please simply pray that he can find a job! 

The scripture this week is a short one. 3rd Nephi chapter 13 verse 21. (3 Nephi 13:21-24) It reminds me  what I need to keep my priorities on! I hope you get something else from it!

I missed the 4th of July but I have a speaker and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir version of The Star Bangled Banner so I just played it a bunch through out the day haha. 

I'm doing amazing and loving life!
