Yo tenia una semana maravilloso!
7 years ago President Monson announced that there would be a temple in Colombia, Barranquilla. And yesterday it was finally dedicated! I have been to a few temple dedications in my days (since I live in Utah and we get a new temple every year.) But this was my first time in Spanish! So that made it unique and more special! As missionaries we go to assist the 3 sessions in one of the churches. President Oaks was the prophet who dedicated the temple! He doesn't speak Spanish so he had a translator there. He spoke in all 3 sessions, but he gave the same talk in all 3 sessions, so I knew his talk pretty well by the last time haha.
After the dedication some 30 missionaries in the mission, who are currently in the zone of the temple had a pretty cool experience. Right after the dedication we all go to go inside so we were pretty much the first ones to go in the temple! But thats not all, for the dedication they packed away all the furniture so our job was to redecorate the temple! We set up the alters so people can be sealed together for time and all eternity, arranged the Celestial room where we can feel peace and recieve revelation. It was a super special experience I wont ever forget!
We were contacting on a street yelling "Buenas!" (That's knocking on doors here) and started talking to someone. We start usually by introducing ourselves. When he introduced himself he said he had a wife 5 days a week. We were confused and then he explained that Sunday through Thursday he has his wife then Friday and Saturday he goes out. It made me kinda sad that we live in this kinda world. We tried to explain the importance of marriage and all of that. That was interesting for sure.
| I was having stomach issues this week so we got to go to a sketchy Colombian clinic! I got an IV again except they put some stuff in it that made me pretty loopy so that was fun haha. |
| This is how many days old I am if you were wondering. |
Also December 6th was my mom's birthday! Mom I love you! I've missed you a lot since I've been out here, but I've grown to appreciate and love you even more being away from you. Words can't explain how much you mean to me. You are so strong. You have a special eye for how to make people happy in the little things you do. I'm forever grateful for you and would be a completely different (worse) person without you. I love you!
