Alfono's Baptism and Maestro Nethercott

The best week yet because I had the amazing opportunity to baptize my new best friend Alfonso.

On Tuesday we had a lesson with Alfonso, we were just gonna check in with him and see how things were going with him and if it felt right to ask about when he wants to be baptized. Alfonso and I were just kinda chatting and we started talking about baptism. Jokingly he said I wanna be baptized right now! I said Alfonso we need a 4 hours notice because thats how long it takes to fill up the font! How about Saturday? And to my surprise he said yes! Elder Moura and I were shocked!

The Baptism was amazing! The first week I was here and he committed to baptism and he asked if I would baptize him, and to my surprise he remembered that and asked me again if I would baptize him. Before the baptism he kept hugging Elder Moura and I and saying thank you thank you thank you and for being patient with him. I can not quite describe the joy I felt when he came up from the water, there is literally nothing else on this earth that can bring that kind of joy. The next day at church he asked us Can I be baptized again next week? Everyone has been so nice to me today!

We held another english class and had a little better turnout! There were a little over 15 people there which was awesome! It was great, I corrected their english, and they corrected my Spanish haha.

We were teaching a lady and shared a scripture in the bible that testifys of the Book of Mormon. She then asked us if it was a Mormon Bible, we said no and then she told her daughter go get my bible and bring it here. To her surprise the versus matched perfectly haha.

Please keep praying for Oscar that his parents will let him be baptized in a couple weeks! Also for our new investigator Madeleine. Shes read most of the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Coventants and the Pearl of Great Price. She knows its true and wants to be baptized but worrys for her relationship with her mom who is really really Catholic.

This week I learned once again that God answers prayers. We had been praying for weeks for Alfonso to be baptized. I am so grateful for all your prayers at home I can certainly feel them. Thank you all so much! I love you guys!

Here's a picture of Joan. Sadly, he moved to Bogota so we can't teach him anymore.

I have no idea what this is. No explanation. Something he ate this week or one of his favorites?
