After we got home and went to shower and noticed that we didn't have any water, so we went to a members house kinda close by and asked if they had water. They didn't have water either. We then realized that this was a little bit of a problem because we had a baptism in 6 hours and no water to fill the baptismal font. Elder Moura and I then found out that a semi truck full of gas crashed into the river which gives the whole city of Barranquilla water. (about 2 million people.) We went to the church and surely enough the font didn't have any water but we found a hose in the church and hooked it up and that had a little water. We then found some buckets and started filling them up in the sinks to try and get more water. But the sinks were the kind that you had to press a button every 10 seconds so it was really tedious.
We went to the members house and she told us she had a little water! We filled up buckets in front of her house with her hose and then carried them a couple streets over to the church! After about 4 hours her water finally ran out and the font water was a little above mid shin. Luckily Maria is 11 years old and really small so we thought if she literally laid down in the font it would be just enough water. So 5 minutes before the baptism we took Maria and her brother Rodolfo in another room and in the church and practiced the technique. So when the baptism came she sat down and then literally laid down in the font and the water just barely went over her toes but she went all the way under! It was quite the experience haha.
| Here's us with the Family History President. He's on the far right! |
The South American Family History President visited our mission! He is over 5 countries. Colombia, Bolivia, Ecuador, Venezuela and Peru, so a pretty small area haha. Later that night the Mission President asked us if we had a family that was recently baptized in our mission and if the Family History President could meet with them, then he asked us if we would go with the President. He met with a family in our ward named the Pizzaro's. It was super cool to meet with him cause he has a pretty big calling.
This week was another great week! Oscar is on track to be baptized this week so keep him in your prayers please! I love you guys and read your scriptures! They contain power to help you in your everyday lives.

Here's our attempt at trying to tape the sinks so that we wouldn't have to hold the button haha but it didn't work very well...
