This was my first time in a hospital in a kinda 3rd world country! It was a cool but a really really really long experience. We got there at about 3:30 in the Afternoon. We then went in and saw the doctor at about 4:30. He looked at my ankles and stuff and said to go wait in the waiting room again and they would call me back to the actual place where they do stuff. Well we found out later they send the people to the other room who need the care the soonest which makes sense but we didn't know this until after. So I think when you are with the doctor he rates how much pain you are in. I made the horrible mistake of acting like I wasn't in pain, I had Elder Chinchay take a bunch of photos of me so it probably looked like I wasn't in pain at all so because of this we waited another 4 hours haha. When they finally called us, it was about 8:30 pm and our curfew is at 9 pm so we knew that there was no way we were gonna make it back in time. They then touched my ankles. A lot. Which hurt really bad, then they gave me an IV and a paper with medicines we needed to buy. The IV took about 2 hours so that was pretty boring. Then we bought our medicine and got back to the house a little before Midnight so it turned into about an 8 hour trip. So this whole week I was pretty much on house arrest and we weren't aloud to leave so we didn't really progress with any of our investigators. Also as I was writing this, our mission President sent out a letter reminding all the missionaries that they aren't aloud to play soccer without shoes... I think I got roasted right in front of all the missionaries haha.
Sister missionaries lived in our apartment before us it's been over 2 weeks and we sweep like 5 times a day. I'm still finding long latino hair everywhere. I also got permission to go to church in socks and sandals so that was a first. We were driving to a district meeting and this road had a giant tree in the middle of the road and there were like these gang members standing by it. They were making everyone that wanted to drive past pay them money. While we were in line I saw the police drive by and they did absolutely nothing haha. So we just ended up taking another road. Last night for dinner I got 2 pieces of cheese and some crackers. My companion and the other missionaries were making fun of me. I was really hungry.
On Saturday our Prophet President Nelson visited the missions in Peru. Our mission was able to watch the broadcast live! A little spiritual experience I had, since I'm a missionary and I feel like I never talk about spiritual stuff oops. I was reading the book of mormon Friday in 3rd Nephi and I had just read chapter 10 and chapter 11 which is where the good stuff happens. (For my friends who haven't read the Book of Mormon resurrected Jesus Christ visits the Americas which is super dope I highly recommend you read it.) Anyway I got this distinct impression that I should stop reading which I thought was odd so I did. Guess what! President Nelson talked about. 3rd Nephi chapters 11-30. Our Prophet literally taught us about the scriptures it was so cool! So I went home with a bunch of notes from what he said and was able to study this part way better than I have before!
I ordered a scripture case a couple weeks and it finally came! I'm proud to say I know have the coolest scripture case in the mission and possibly the world.;)
My ankles are pretty much better! They are just red. Here's some really Ugly pictures of them so look at your own risk! :)
