CARTAGENA

Somehow my mission got even hotter. I got transferred to Cartagena! My area is Torices So far its really hot, but I love it, but it's really hot!
My new companion is Elder Saravia from Peru! He has 5 months in the mission. He turned 21 years old like 3 days ago so we tried making a cake but it turned out looking like a pizza. This week he's been teaching me my favorite Shrek quotes in Spanish so what more can I ask for???

We worked well with the members and have been able to receive some Buenisimo references from them. We had 7 people attend church this last Sunday! We have about 5 or 6 baptisms this transfer which should be coming over the next few weeks!

Here in Torices its super touristy, our house is about a 10 minute walk from the beach so its super awesome to be able to see it everyday! There are like 2 parts of Torices, 1 which is like super duper rich and the other that is normal and pretty sketchy. If you know me you know I love sketchy. Im not gonna include all the details because my mom reads these emails but lets just say I have some exciting stories I can tell her when I get home safe and sound ;)

We were walking in a area and every one always looks at me because I'm white. After 8 months I'm still not used to it haha. There were about 15 teenagers playing soccer in the street and I asked them for the ball and did a juggling around the world trick that I've been practicing and they all started going crazy so now we have lots of friends up there haha.

Here we get to take Jeeps as transportation. You pay like 30 cents and then they just drive the same route all day. I'll try to get pictures next week but it's super fun and different than taxis or buses for a change.

We live on the 3rd floor which is the top floor. Yesterday we were looking out the window and I saw a ladder that led to the roof so I had to talk the other missionaries on climbing the ladder and going up there with me! The pictures turned out super cool so it was totally worth it,

We went to centro today which is where you can literally buy or find anything. One of my favorite hobbies is heckling with the people selling stuff cause they always try to rip people off. I bought some shirts and some gifts and stuff that will always remind me of Cartagena.

This area has A TON of potential and its super pretty and super entertaining and I love my companion so I'm doing super well and I'm loving it here!
I love you guys have a great week!

  1. Today: Thursday, I spent about three and a half hours trying to get a sisters snowblower working. I have been using my pickup with a blade to clear her drive and parking area but it is so small I have a rough time turning around. She has a twenty five year old son his wife and baby living with her. I found out she has a snowblower and for several years I have been fighting that job. Today her "ministering" (home teacher) and I got the snowblower working so her son can take some responsibility at home. He doesn't work, just lays around and watches after the baby. All he has ever done is work at Sonics as a car hop. He has not grown up yet. We have six to eight inches of snow on the level, a few drifts about two to three feet high. It has been getting cold at night. Last week it got down to -4 degrees Fahrenheit, the last few nights it has been two to three degrees above zero (water freezes at 32 degrees). The highs for the day has been high twenties to mid thirties. Recognize some days it doesn't get above freezing! Now complain about the heat! But the gospel is still true. I had better let you go now. I'll try to write again. Be true to the faith: GOD LIVES and loves us all, even the sinners we are all His children. Even we love you. Take care and may GOD Bless you.
